Antonio Stradivari’s “Forma B Piccola” cello belongs to the later period of his Cremona workshop. Developed after the standard Forma B model, this smaller form gave the cello a narrower body, slightly shorter length, and graceful outline. Its elegant arching, elongated C-bouts, and balanced proportions reflected Stradivari’s move toward a more manageable cello design.
The “Braga” cello is dated around 1726–1731. This instrument shows the shift from the larger Forma B style toward a refined Piccola form, made for improved playability while keeping the depth and presence expected from a Stradivari cello. Its design became part of the later Cremonese tradition, where comfort and classical proportion worked together.
